Duck Vacation, Day 5

Holly and I got up at 5:30 and took the dogs to the beach to see the sunrise. Then after breakfast, Holly took a nap, the guys took the kids crabbing and to the pool, and I just laid low at the house. (Vacationing is exhausting! LOL) Around 11 Holly and I packed a picnic and joined them at the pool for a couple hours. Then we got cleaned up and went to see Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla and did a little shopping. Scott and his kids climbed all the way up the lighthouse. That sounded like work to me! Bill and I and our kids went to the Art Festival to look around while we waited. Afterwards, Holly & her family went to visit some other friends who are also vacationing here, and we headed back to the house for a quiet evening.

Yappy Hour

Duck Vacation, Day 4, Part B

There are a bunch of really nice pet stores up here and the whole area is very dog-friendly. One of the stores, Outer Barks, hosts a weekly "Yappy Hour" with free treats and "paw-garitas" for the dogs, kiddy pools to wade in, agility and paw painting. It was a lot of fun, and Spike was the belle of the ball in his new Doggles. We picked those up right before Yappy Hour at another store, DogNutz.

Don't we look cool in our shades?

Here we are, doing the paw painting. Spike is a real "pupcaso", don't you think?

And here is his "masterpaws". His feet are so hairy (and I just trimmed a bunch of fur from between his toes last week!) that they don't really even look like pawprints, lol.

Duck Vacation, Day 3

Beach in the morning again, then it was back to the Wright Brothers Memorial.

Mackenzie looks thrilled, doesn't she?

After the Wright Brothers Memorial, we went to Bodie Lighthouse.

Bill & I went out for dinner at The Sunset Grill--it was SO GOOD. I had fresh local yellowfin tuna with lump crabmeat and asparagus, fresh corn on the cob, and garlic mashed potatoes. Bill had Dolphin Jalamango. I ordered dessert to go--Bourbon Pecan Pie, MMMMM!

Oh, and I had a drink in a coconut!

Duck vacation, Day 2

Monday, we went to the beach in the morning, then after lunch we went to The Monument to a Century of Flight and the Wright Brothers Memorial. A sudden thunderstorm sprang up while we were there, so we left in a hurry. Tickets are good for a week, so we planned to come see the rest later in the week.

Everybody DUCK!!!

Duck Vacation, Day 1. For vacation this year, we rented a beach house in Duck, NC with our friends, Scott & Holly. Four adults, four kids and four dogs in a beach house together for one week. Sounds like a new reality TV show, doesn't it?

We arrived about 3:30 on Sunday, got all our stuff unloaded, then went for a walk on the beach.

Smile for the camera, Keira!

Spike, Keira and Gracie (Holly's dog). We brought Robin, too, but he's too old for that kind of shenanigans these days!

Aww, little puppy toes in the sand!
DIG!!! DIG!!! DIG!!!!
